D. G. Yuengling & Son, based in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, is America’s oldest continuously operating brewery, founded in 1829 by German immigrant David G. Yuengling (originally Eagle Brewery). It remains a family-owned business—now in its fifth generation—and is celebrated for its flagship Traditional Lager, an amber-colored lager with caramel malt and balanced hop character. Throughout its long history, the company has adapted to challenges such as Prohibition (surviving with near-beer products and even a dairy), expanded its brewing footprint with facilities in Pennsylvania and Florida, and in 2021 launched a strategic partnership with Molson Coors to grow into new markets while retaining independent, family ownership.
